On January 9, 2010 even the sun came out to help us celebrate the opening of the new 19,500 square foot library!
Cory Dansereau and His Hot Four began the celebration with their music as a crowd of over 700 gathered in anticipation of the doors opening. Bill Ptacek, KCLS Director, welcomed the community members to the new library.
Next to the Sammamish City Hall in the Sammamish Commons stands the new library, with a view that is simply spectacular!
The children were gathered and the ribbon cut. The doors were now open. People flowed through the doors non stop to see the collection of more than 106,000 library materials, the community meeting room, conference rooms, and the children’s area and teen zone. The large reading area has a gas fireplace that makes for relaxed reading.
The community was treated to chocolate gold coins, coloring books, bookmarks from KCLS and Cookies, Coffee and Tea provided by the Friends of the Sammamish Library.
